Ecobound at Southbound Festival
Southbound Festival is an arts, camping and music festival held in January each year at Sir Stewart Bovell Park in Busselton, Western Australia. Southbound returns in 2014 with a stellar line up of both national and international acts including Asta, Cat Empire, Emma Louise, Flight Facilities, London Grammar, MGMT, The Roots, The Rubens and Solange plus many more.
But most importantly the main attraction returning to the festival in 2014 is; Ecobound. Ecobound at Southbound initiates green incentives that reduce the festival’s carbon emissions. There will be several recycling stations positioned around the festival and biodegradable waste from the festival will be composted offsite in local farmers gardens. There will be free platforms for various environmental organisations to promote their messages through several eco stalls. All food stall holders must abide by a strict policy to only serve food in biodegradable packaging.
The Green Team, which is a big part of Ecobound, will be back encouraging festival patrons to recycle by collecting recyclable cans and returning them to the recycle centre where patrons will receive a $5 ‘Green Money’ voucher, redeemable at the Music Store or at the bars for a beverage.
The Green Team will also be responsible for assisting Greening Australia in planting more trees at the festival site.
Last but not least patrons can purchase a Green Fee for just an extra $3 when buying their ticket to the festival, this way patrons can reduce their carbon footprint.
