Keep Australia Beautiful Week 2012

Running from August 20th to August 27th, Keep Australia Beautiful Week 2012 aims to remind people about the simple things they can do in their daily lives to reduce the impact on the environment and encourage action.

During Keep Australia Beautiful Week 2012, issues relating to keeping Australia beautiful will be highlighted in the media and at the launch of the event, where celebrities will attend to help to spread the cause.

Keep Australia Beautiful (KAB) is targeting motorists in this year’s campaign, calling on them to stop rubbishing our highways and roads with litter.

In the annual National Litter Index, highways and roads are second only to industrial sites, in terms of volume of litter, indicating that Australian motorists are not doing the right thing with their waste.

Each year, tens of thousands of tonnes of takeaway wrappers, cups, cigarette butts, drink cans, water bottles, newspapers and more are being littered along our coastal roads and highways, ending up in our rivers and oceans.

For more details on how you can get involved, check out the Keep Australia Beautiful 2012 website.
