National Tree Day 2012

For a chance to do something positive for the environment while reconnecting with nature, National Tree Day 2012 provides the perfect opportunity. Commencing on Sunday the 29th of July, the event encourages all Australians to plant and care for native trees and shrubs in a bid to improve the environment.

Coordinated by Planet Ark and sponsored by Toyota, National Tree Day aims to “inspire, educate and recruit Australians to actively care for our unique land and create future generations of committed environmental custodians”.

The event was co-founded by Olivia Newton John and Planet Ark in 1996, and since then, it has grown to involve 2.8 million volunteers, which have planted over 17 million native trees and shrubs.

If you would like to volunteer for National Tree Day 2012, check out their website for more details.
